Sometimes one console is only part of the story
A console can be great on its own. But some of the most interesting retro setups only really come alive once you add the controller, peripheral or expansion designed to go with it.
That is why we are working on something new at RetroPixl: Bundles.
The idea is simple. Selected Bundles will mostly bring together consoles with original accessories, add-ons, controllers or other pieces that naturally belong with them. In some cases, a second console or selected collectible may also become part of the combination when it genuinely makes sense.
No games, since that is not what RetroPixl sells. Just consoles and the pieces around them that can make the setup more complete, more interesting or simply more fun.
Pairings that actually make sense
We are not interested in grouping random products together just to create a package. Each Bundle should have a reason to exist.
That could mean pairing a console from our Retro Gaming Collection with an original accessory that expands what it can do. A Famicom could sit alongside a Disk System. A Dreamcast could make sense with a VMU. A Mega Drive could be paired with one of Sega's more unusual add-ons.
Some combinations may be obvious. Others may highlight pieces from our Accessories selection that become much more interesting once paired with the console they were designed for.
From complete setups to unusual experiments
Retro gaming is full of accessories that can look strange when seen on their own.
The Family Computer 3D System is a good example. So is the Sega Mega Modem. Both make much more sense once you understand the console and ecosystem they belong to.
We explored those stories in our articles on the Family Computer 3D System and Sega Mega Modem. Bundles give us another way to bring those relationships together through the products themselves.
That could mean a practical setup for someone who wants to play, a more complete combination for a collector, or something in between.
For players, collectors, or both
Not every Bundle will be designed for the same person.
Some may focus on making a console more interesting to use. Others may bring together pieces that appeal more to someone browsing our Collectors Collection, where completeness and original presentation matter just as much.
RetroPixl has always been about both sides of retro gaming. Some people want to play everything they own. Others love building beautifully preserved collections. Plenty do both.
Coming soon to RetroPixl
We are still working through the first combinations and want to keep the concept flexible. Some Bundles may stay simple with a console and one key accessory. Others may become more complete setups where several pieces naturally belong together.
Selected gaming Collectibles may also appear when they genuinely add something to the combination. The first Bundles will start appearing as they are ready, with more developing from there.
More ways to play, collect and rewind
Retro gaming is full of consoles, accessories and add-ons designed to work together. Bundles are our way of bringing some of those relationships back together.
Some pairings will be familiar. Some may be a little unexpected. Either way, the goal is simple: create combinations that make sense and give RetroPixlers another way to discover the consoles, accessories, collectibles and unusual pieces we love.
