RetroPixl launches Retro Refurb, preserving authenticity, one console at a time

In 2025, RetroPixl unveils Retro Refurb Services, a new chapter in its mission to protect gaming history. Built within the RetroPixl Lab, Retro Refurb focuses on deep cleaning, repair, and restoration of vintage hardware while keeping each system true to its origins. Every console is treated as a collector’s artifact, not a candidate for modification.

Preserving what matters most

Retro Refurb was born from a simple belief: time shouldn’t erase craftsmanship. Collectors have long trusted RetroPixl for its brand new and sealed (S-grade), mint (A-grade), and complete-in-box (B-grade) hardware sourced across Japan. Now they can entrust their own consoles for professional restoration. Each project balances functionality and historical accuracy.

From RetroPixl Lab to Retro Refurb

The RetroPixl Lab, introduced in 2024, laid the groundwork for research and hardware preservation. Retro Refurb expands that foundation into a hands-on restoration service. Technicians specializing in Japanese retro consoles maintain every original detail, labeling, screws, finishes, exactly as intended.
Collectors can explore related preservation stories in the Retro Gaming Collection and Collectors Collection.

What Retro Refurb offers today

Retro Refurb launches with three collector-focused options:

  1. Deep Clean Service – A full disassembly and detail clean removing decades of dust, grime, and oxidation.

  2. Repair & Fix – Solutions for power failures, faulty buttons, and aging components restoring full function.

  3. Refurbish & Refresh – The combined premium package offering both cleaning and repair.
Services span home systems like the Super Famicom and PlayStation, handhelds such as Game Boy and PSP, and rare Accessories from controllers to memory units.

What’s next: Modding in 2026

While Retro Refurb focuses on preservation throughout 2025, RetroPixl is preparing the next evolution, Retro Refurb Advanced, launching in 2026. This division will handle modern enhancements such as display upgrades and RGB mods, executed with the same respect for authenticity that defines every RetroPixl project.

Legacy for players and collectors

Retro Refurb represents another step in RetroPixl’s long-term dedication to Japan’s gaming heritage. Every cleaned, repaired, or restored console keeps that history alive for both enthusiasts and gamers.
